Sosai Robert Watson – Hanshi – Ku Dan (9th degree) Director – Utah Shorin Kai
Hanshi Watson, Director for the Utah Shorin-Kai, holds a 9th degree Black Belt, and has a Masters of Arts Degree from Brigham Young University in Recreation Management, in which martial arts played a significant role in his graduate school studies. He began histraining in1967 and has been continually teaching and formerly competed in Karate & Kobudo. He Began the Karate Program in Utah with Murray Community Education in1980. He enjoys teaching and is dedicated to the success of his students. He was inducted into the Seiyo Shorin-ryu Karate Kobudo Hall-of-fame in 2012. He is a Master Instructor & Lifetime Member of the USA Karate Federation (USAKF) and a former USKA National Champion & USA Team Member. He was inducted into the USAKarate Federation Hall of Fame in 2015 & 2019 for Karate and the Police Self-Defense Instructors Association (PSDI).
Kyoshi Todd Stoneking – Hachi Dan
Sensei Stoneking the Senior Chief Instructor holds an 8th degree Black Belt and has been with Sensei Watson and the Utah Shoring-Kai since 1989. Prior to joining the Utah Shorin-Kai, he studied and earned a Shodan in the style of Okinawan Kenpo Karate. He holds rank certificates from Matsumura Seiyo Shorin-Ryu, Seiyo Shorin Ryu and the USAKF; he is a former USAKF State Champion in competition. In 2019 he was inducted into the USKAF hall of fame.
Kyoshi Kim Schroeder – Nana Dan
Sensei Kim Schroeder holds a 7th degree Black Belt and has been with the Utah Shorin-Kai since 1997. Prior to training in Shorin-Ryu, he studied Wado-Ryu karate. Sensei Schroeder holds the title of Kyoshi. He is recognized by Matsumura Seiyo Shorin-Ryu Karate-Kobudo, International Seiyo Shorin-Ryu Ren Mai, USAKF as a 7th degree black (nanadan). Sensei Schroeder is an excellent instructor who is always willing to help students perfect themselves and their technique.
Renshi Jeff Schroeder – Roku Dan
Sensei Jeff Schroeder began his training with the Utah Shorin-Kai in 1997. In December of 2006 received the title of Chief Instructor. In May 2016 he was promoted to the rank of 6th degree Black Belt. Sensei Schroeder is an excellent Instructor to all students and is also certified through the same organizations and Kyoshi Kim Schroeder.
All Utah Shorin-Kai instructors hold rank and Title certificates from the certified Matsumura Seiyo Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Ren Mai, International Shorin-Ryu Karate Kobudo Ren Mai among others.
